{"id":654,"date":"2019-02-19T20:01:59","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T19:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.confluence.eu\/?page_id=654"},"modified":"2020-03-05T16:21:20","modified_gmt":"2020-03-05T15:21:20","slug":"history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.confluence.eu\/en\/history\/","title":{"rendered":"History"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">After leaving her position as director of the Ecole Spe\u0301ciale d\u2019Architecture (ESA) in Paris in 2012, Odile Decq advanced the idea that architectural pedagogy was too often blocked by a strict institutional system of education unable to change.\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Together with a small, international group of architects and educators motivated by a desire to imagine other forms for architectural education, and judging that the moment was right the group set out to create a new institution that would change not only the philosophy but also the methodology of teaching and research in architecture.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\">This initiative led to the creation in 2014 of a new &#8220;Private Higher Education Institution&#8221; for architecture: CONFLUENCE Institute for Innovation and Creative Strategies in Architecture based in Lyon, France. Since September 2019 CONFLUENCE is based in the center of Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">More than the site where it is located, <strong>Confluence is the founding idea of the school:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Architecture must not be reduced to a professional or specialized instruction&#8221;<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Odile Decq, Dean<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #000000;\">On the contrary, Architecture is a discipline that opens to the world. It is a vision and a capacity to act. Today it needs to return to its more humanist ambitions.
